At the progression of technological trend, in order to increase the competitiveness of the Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Department, in 2000 for the expansion, covering an area of about 7200 square feet are well-equipped with sophisticated instruments, become unique instrument center at private academic institutions in Taiwan. Instrument center equipment includes : gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, gel filtration chromatography, ion chromatography, atomic absorption spectroscopy, elemental analysis, zeta potential instrument, infrared spectroscopy, UV / visible absorption spectroscopy, TOC, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, light scattering instrument, infrared microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Raman microscope, tensile testing machine, impact resistance test machine, particle size analysis, dynamic contact angle, small extrusion machine.
These instruments support faculty members in the teaching and research works. As the teaching unit is responsible for knowledge enlighten, and as the connection between students and industries, the department invested over 10 million funding to obtain well-controlled temperature and humidity environment of the center for the needs of diverse instruments. Instruments not only conform to the trend of technological progression, included biological technology, nano-materials technology, environmental technology, fuel cells fabrication, semiconductor processing, and PCB manufacturing requirements in the area of research, but also to meet the needs of the industry. It is to train students to professionals, engaged in research and development, and through all kinds of valuable instruments to enable student’s understanding the operation of various equipments including in nano-material surface analysis, component analysis, biological analysis, process analysis, and no environmentally harmful substances analysis. It makes students turn more competitive in diverse needs of the industry. The center provides equipment analysis technology cooperation programs in various sophisticated equipments and a strong lineup of faulty members for the needs of the industry. It is engaged in various professional services for creating win-win situation for market competitiveness.
