Since September 2022, I have joined Yuan Ze University, Taiwan serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Material Science. This is my first international academic working experience in Taiwan, and what interest me the most is the Taiwanese culture which is a great learning opportunity especially for those who are from a foreign country. Yuan Ze University has provided several supports in terms of teaching facilities, research opportunities and collaborative engagement for new lecturers enrolled the university. As for the cost living in Taiwan, Yuan Ze University has a Professor Dormitory for lecturers to accommodate themselves inside the campus and it is easy to find essential needs as there are several convenient stores (Family Mart) inside the campus as well. Apart from the university, the transportation in Taiwan is very convenient for me to travel to several district around Taiwan. In terms of work-life balance, the university is equipped with facilities such as basketball/badminton/baseball court, swimming pools, gymnasium and library for all the staff and student to access them. Sometimes during the weekend, I will visit around Taiwan to enjoy the beautiful country filled with magnificent and breathtaking landscapes. Nonetheless, I would said, this is definitely a privileged and life learning experience especially for a Malaysian working 3000 km abroad away from home.
