I. Master's Program
- Minimum Graduation Credits: 33 credits (including 6 credits for thesis)
- Core Courses (6 credits required, choose 2 out of 6):
- Advanced Chemical Kinetics
- Advanced Chemical Thermodynamics
- Advanced Transport Phenomena
- Materials Physical Chemistry
- Polymer Physics
- Physical Metallurgy
- Seminar (Paper Discussion): Must be completed for four semesters before graduation.
Foreign students may opt to take one 3-credit course instead.
II. Master's Program for Working Professionals
- Minimum Graduation Credits: 30 credits (including 6 credits for thesis)
- Thesis May Be Replaced by Technical Report:
- Students who choose to submit a technical report instead of an academic thesis must take one additional 3-credit course offered by the department.
- Application must be submitted before the preliminary review of the thesis.
III. Doctoral Program
- Coursework and Credits: 33 credits (including 12 credits for dissertation; at least 15 credits must be from departmental courses out of the remaining 21 credits)
- Direct PhD Admission Students: Must complete 30 credits excluding the dissertation (at least 24 credits must be from departmental courses)
- PhD Candidacy Requirements:
- Completion of required credits and passing the preliminary dissertation review
- Passing the department’s first foreign language requirement (English, German, Japanese, or French)
- To enhance international perspective, before submitting the dissertation, students must:
• Present a paper at an international academic conference abroad at least once, or
• Participate in a visit or exchange program at a foreign university or research institution (excluding Mainland China) for at least one month
- The doctoral dissertation must be original research under the guidance of the thesis advisor
- Before the oral defense, students must:
• Publish at least one paper in an international SCI-indexed journal (including accepted papers)
• Give one public presentation in the department
